Who am I?

'The Limey Rider' is a British motorcycle content creator on TikTok and YouTube. From comedy shorts to full length videos on biker bars, reviews of gear/bikes and much more.

I found my way into motovlogging as a bit of a distraction from the stresses of life. It all started when I bought my first motorcycle - a Yamaha YBR Custom 125cc. This was my first taste of life on 2 wheels and I fell in love with it instantly.

I began commuting to work on my little 125 and getting to grips with the basics of riding a bike. Throughout my commutes I'd pass people on much bigger bikes, who didn't have L plates on and all had really impressive looking gear.. But I noticed something, a lot of them were doing a little head tilt to the side every time I passed them. Slightly confused I researched exactly what this meant - was I doing something wrong and they were trying to alert me to it? No, as you all know it was a "Hey brother, ride safe" sort of gesture. Am I one of them now? I thought to myself, have they accepted me into their amazing world of 2 wheels even though I'm on this tiny little 125 with L plates on?

Yes was the answer, every where I went the nods continued and I began to feel a part of the bike family. Now this is where my motovlog journey began. I ordered the cheapest action camera I could find and just stuck it on the side of my helmet. I wanted to capture all these riders nodding so I could show it off to my wife and be like "look how friendly they all are".

Of course once I had a camera I began almost narrating my rides, documenting them for myself to watch when ever I wanted, so I showed my wife some of the footage and she said to me "that's actually quite entertaining, you should make some videos for people to watch".

After some internal debating I took the leap, I set out to record my first ever motovlog, in the depths of December on iced over roads in minus temperatures with a £100 action camera, a £10 microphone and a beat up old Yamaha YBR 125!

Now, as expected the very first video I made was done on the fly - no pre thought up idea of what I was going to talk about, no real clue of how to protect my mic from the wind, I honestly had no idea what I was doing! But I loved it, and I found a true sense of enjoyment from it.

Fast forward 2 days and I had finally finished editing together my first video for YouTube and released it. Watching it back now it shows I didn't have any idea what was going on or what I was doing but it is a video that marks the start of my journey and for that, I love it.

No matter how badly edited it is, how much wind noise there is and how bad my riding is, I love it for that reason alone, I'll always be able to look back onto that cold bleak December morning and think "That's where it all began"

Fast forward again and now we are here, with a few thousand followers across multiple platforms, full bike licence on a suzuki SV650 and an affiliate of Muc-Off and Chin Mounts. Maybe going out that cold winter morning wasn't such a bad idea after all!

Be sure to check out all the social media platforms to explore the full extent of the content I make, and as always thank you for dropping by and showing support!

You're all so appreciated!

Cheers,

Limey
